Pain Treatments

Non-invasive and targeted therapies focused on reducing inflammation, improving circulation, and relieving chronic and acute pain.

What this covers

Pain care at the partner clinic centres on targeted, non-surgical approaches. Shockwave therapy uses acoustic pulses applied to the skin over an affected area and is most often discussed for tendon and soft-tissue complaints. Infiltration injection therapy places medication directly at or near a painful structure, such as a joint or tendon sheath, under a provider's assessment. Both are considered only after a provider has examined the area and understood the history of the problem.

What to expect

People often explore these options for persistent joint, muscle, or tendon discomfort, slow recovery from an injury, or pain that limits everyday movement. A visit begins with a confidential intake so a provider can understand where the pain is, how long it has lasted, what makes it better or worse, and what you have already tried. A physical examination and, where relevant, imaging or lab results help the provider decide whether any of these approaches is a reasonable fit.

If a provider determines an approach is appropriate, they will explain the options, what each involves, how many sessions are typically discussed, and any relevant considerations, so you can decide together on next steps.

Questions people often bring to the provider

  • Is this pain something that should be imaged or investigated before treating it?
  • How does shockwave therapy differ from an injection, and when is each usually considered?
  • Can these approaches be combined with physical therapy or exercise I am already doing?
  • What signs would mean I should stop and be re-evaluated?

Good to know

Pain has many causes, and not all of them are mechanical. A provider will sometimes recommend a different path entirely, including referral, if the history points somewhere else. Sudden severe pain, pain with fever, numbness, weakness, or pain after significant trauma should be assessed urgently rather than through a scheduled consultation. Vitrex does not provide pain treatment; the partner clinic does, and only after review.

How care begins

Treatment is considered only when medically appropriate. Care begins with a confidential intake, and a licensed provider independently decides what, if anything, is appropriate after review. Nothing on this page is a treatment recommendation, indication, or dosing instruction.
