Lab work

What a provider typically checks, and why

A plain-language primer on the blood work that tends to come before and during any conversation about peptides or hormones. No reference ranges, no interpretation — that belongs with the provider who orders them.

Why labs come before conversations

A provider cannot responsibly discuss most of the substances on this site without knowing your baseline. Labs are how "is this appropriate for you" becomes a real question instead of a sales pitch. This page explains what is commonly checked and why — not what your results mean, which is a conversation for the provider who ordered them.

Commonly checked at baseline

  • Complete blood count (CBC) — red cells matter for testosterone; general health check.
  • Metabolic panel — kidney and liver function, electrolytes, glucose.
  • A1c and fasting glucose — central to any metabolic or GLP-1 conversation; growth-hormone-pathway peptides can affect glucose.
  • Lipid panel — cardiovascular risk context.
  • Thyroid (TSH ± free T4) — thyroid problems mimic many of the symptoms people bring to intake.
  • IGF-1 — the marker most relevant to growth-hormone-pathway peptides, before and during.
  • Hormone panel — testosterone (two morning samples), oestradiol, LH/FSH, prolactin, SHBG when hormonal questions are on the table.
  • PSA — for men before any testosterone conversation.
  • Vitamin D, B12, ferritin — common, cheap explanations for fatigue and low mood.

What tends to be repeated during care

If a provider recommends care, expect follow-up labs tied to what is being used: IGF-1 and glucose for growth-hormone-pathway peptides; A1c, kidney function and sometimes lipase for GLP-1 medicines; testosterone, haematocrit, oestradiol and PSA for testosterone therapy. The interval is the provider's call.

What labs cannot do

They cannot tell you whether a research peptide "works" — no lab marker validates a preclinical compound. They cannot replace a history. And a normal panel does not make an unapproved product safe. Labs make the conversation honest; they do not make the product approved.

Bringing existing results

If you have results from the last six to twelve months, mention them in the intake; a provider may not need to repeat them. Vitrex never sees your results — they go to Doctor G Medical's portal, not to this site.
