Kisspeptin · Reproductive-endocrinology research

A natural signalling peptide studied for its role in the hormonal axis — human research, no approval.

Revisado clinicamente por Bernard Garcia, MD

O que é

Kisspeptin is a peptide produced in the hypothalamus that signals the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which in turn drives LH, FSH and sex-hormone production. Because it sits at the top of the reproductive hormone axis, it has been studied in fertility, hypogonadism and, more recently, sexual-function research.

It is one of the better-studied research peptides in humans — but as a research tool and diagnostic candidate, not as an approved medicine.

Como funciona

Human studies have used kisspeptin infusions or injections to trigger hormone release in controlled settings: ovulation induction in IVF research, testing of the hormonal axis, and small studies of brain response to sexual stimuli. Effects are short-lived and dose-dependent, and the studies are small.
