Lipotropic shots · Methionine, inositol, choline and B12 — and thin evidence
The weight-loss clinic staple, examined.
Qué es
"Lipo" or MIC shots combine methionine, inositol and choline, often with B12 and other B vitamins, and are marketed to speed fat metabolism. They are compounded, not FDA-approved, and there are no controlled trials showing they cause weight loss.
Cómo funciona
The ingredients are involved in fat metabolism in the liver, which is the rationale. Involvement in a pathway is not the same as a treatment effect; the weight loss seen in clinic programs comes from the diet and, where used, approved medicines alongside the shots.
