Clomiphene and enclomiphene · Approved for one thing, prescribed for another
Oestrogen-receptor modulators used off-label in men — with one approved and one not.
Qué es
Clomiphene is FDA-approved for ovulatory dysfunction in women. In men it is prescribed off-label to raise testosterone by stimulating the body's own production, preserving fertility. Enclomiphene, the more active isomer, is not FDA-approved (a 2015 application was not granted) and is available only compounded.
Cómo funciona
Both block oestrogen feedback at the hypothalamus, increasing LH and FSH and therefore testosterone. Evidence in men consists of smaller studies; long-term data are limited.

Preguntas frecuentes
Why choose this over testosterone?
It preserves natural production and fertility, which testosterone suppresses. Whether it is appropriate is a provider's decision.
Is enclomiphene legal?
It is not approved; compounded access exists in a regulatory grey area that changes. Ask a provider.
Side effects?
Visual disturbances, mood changes and others are documented for clomiphene. A provider covers what applies.
