Cagrilintide · Amylin analogue in trials
A long-acting amylin analogue studied alone and combined with semaglutide (CagriSema).
Qué es
Cagrilintide is an investigational long-acting analogue of amylin, a hormone released with insulin that affects satiety and gastric emptying. It is studied on its own and, more prominently, in a fixed combination with semaglutide known as CagriSema, which is in phase 3 trials.
Cómo funciona
Amylin analogues act on appetite centres through a different receptor from GLP-1, which is the rationale for combining the two. Phase 2 and 3 data report average weight reduction over 68 weeks; approval decisions are pending.
